Methodology

AI Companion Today compares AI companion apps with a practical buyer lens. We focus on price, trial access, conversation style, memory behavior, privacy signals, billing discretion, feature depth and overall fit for the intent of the page.

What we check

  • Pricing pages, trial language and upgrade framing when public information is available.
  • Core product positioning such as romance, roleplay, privacy-first, free-trial or alternatives intent.
  • Visible policy and trust signals including privacy pages, support flows and cancellation guidance when public.
  • How clearly an app communicates what is free, what is paid and what changes after sign-up.

What varies by page type

Not every page serves the same job. Comparison pages and reviews are written to help with buying decisions. Broader trend pages exist to explain the category and route readers toward the pages that help them choose.

How recommendations are made

Pages are organized by intent first. A reader looking for free trials, privacy notes or Replika alternatives should land on a page shaped for that specific decision. We use a mix of direct product review, pricing-page review, public policy review and editorial comparison.

Update policy

Key comparison pages are revisited periodically. When a fact cannot be verified directly at the time of update, we either attribute it to a source or avoid presenting it as a hard claim.

18+ content

Adult-oriented romance pages are intended for readers who are 18 or older. Those pages are labeled separately from broader AI companion coverage.
